Join Sonia for an advanced mosaic workshop in the south of France. Work in the pure light and color of Provence at the Opio factory, 20 kilometers north of Cannes on the French Riviera.

The class will explore color, light and texture working direct in a mix of vitreous glass (opaque, transparent, flamme, etc.) and unglazed ceramic. Technically there will be extensive inquiry into cutting techniques, methods of laying and broadening your skill set. But most importantly, you'll leave the advanced class with an elevated sense of what mosaic is all about, a new way of thinking about your work and the knowledge to enable you to push to the next level. Some prior mosaic experience is recommended.

The class will take place June 5 through 9th. One day will be devoted to touring mosaic sites on the Riviera. We will also tour the Opio factory and learn how glass tiles are made. See some of the Opiocolor tiles we'll be working with plus some of the transparents and sublimes. In addition, we'll be working with the unglazed solid-body porcelains, les Gres, in Opio's range of colors.

The course fee includes:
* Accommodation for 6 nights (air-conditioned, private room with in-suite bathroom)

Space is limited so early registration is recommended. Class cost is $2,450 US. (In the unlikely event that the US to Euro exchange rate worsens beyond $1 = € 1.4, there may be a small surchange.) Eight participants are required for the class to be held. Maximum class size is fifteen. E-mail to confirm space availability. Deposit of $250 is required on booking and class will fill on a first come, first in basis. Balance of fee due by April 15th. In the event the class does not have the eight minimum partcipants, all deposits and payments will be returned. Cancellations accepted up to April 15th for refund of deposit (or in the case your space can be filled by another participant).
